Centre of expertise in seed technology and seed related issues
Farmers all over the world share one concern: how to get the best seed and planting material for next season's crops. Propagation material of high quality is a prerequisite for a crop that is superior in quantity and quality. Wageningen Seed Centre (WSC) develops and transfers expertise in all fields related to seed technology and seed related issues.
Wageningen Seed Centre is an alliance of seven scientific and education institutions in Wageningen: Plant Research International, the departments of Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology, Crop and Weed Ecology Group, the Horticultural Production Chains Group and the Department of Economy and Management of Wageningen University (WU) and the International Agricultural Centre (IAC). The alliance is strengthened trough the affiliation of the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture and the Netherlands General Inspection Service for Agricultural Seeds and Seed Potatoes.
In May 2011 Wageningen Seed Centre organised the 8th Master Class on Seed Technology. The four day intense course was very well received by 15 particitpants from 8 countries. The 9th Master Class will be held from 21 - 24 May 2012. More information on the 9th Masterclass Class Seed Technology
